THE GOLDEN RULE

Since this is just for a home group and we don't really expect to share any of our stuff "commercially", we all use the Golden Rule to change content and rules for the sake of fun. We play more mature games because it's a fun exploration, but there are also other campaigns that are sillier or have greater levity. If anyone who's reading this from the Neocities Web Site directory, go ahead and click on stuff. I'm unsure if things will make sense, but the stuff here is perfectly catered for the Nexus gaming group.

GAME SYSTEMS

Storyteller System

The main game system this group runs. Originating from the Classic World of Darkness setting. It is a D10 dice rolling system that uses successes and failures to determine roll outcomes. The system itself is based on modularity and full customization of a character's development throughout a campaign. This has a fair amount of crunch to get through, but the system is very rewarding. Depending on the setting, the Storyteller System lends itself to big dice. Requires a bit of House Ruling to smooth over combat. The main skeleton of the homebrewed settings use the 20th Edition of the World of Darkness.

Powered by the Apocalypse

Our group plays a more streamlined version of Powered by the Apocalypse which allows more Moves to be custom developed past the regular playbooks and also make the game suit long term campaigns vs the shorter intention of standard toolkit game systems. It's just what we like around here. It's still very much roleplay first but it doesn't restrict people to 'what can my moves do for me?' type of mentality. I like that Powered by the Apocalypse is very much a collaborative game in terms of story building. I just also like more meaty gameplay mechanics and gameplay loops that have more considerable staying power than a handful of sessions.

Star Wars: Sith Academy

Storyteller System

"Peace is a lie. There is only Passion.
Through Passion, I gain Strength.
Through Strength, I gain Power.
Through Power, I gain Victory.
Through Victory my chains are Broken.
The Force shall free me."

Star Wars: Sith Academy is a game set in the Old Republic Era of Star Wars using lore from the MMO video game, Star Wars: The Old Republic, and the old Legends information.

The Players are students of the Korriban Sith Academy that are about to graduate their 6th Year, from wee Acolytes to proper Apprentices. They'll either serve a Darth or a Lord of the Sith Empire, if they graduate. Some of the perils they'll face are Tasks given to them by a prospective Master or they might have to compete against other students. The campaign focuses on building up power bases, making alliances, investing influence in different Spheres, and fighting ridiculous monsters, or even fighting against Jedi.

World of Darkness: Dunhurst

18+ Game
Storyteller System

Classic World of Darkness abbreviated Symbol

The iconic grungy dark, urban fantasy of the 90s, Classic World of Darkness is one of the staple mainstays of the group. It's the strongest alternative to the more fantastical, medieval setting of D&D. (Though there is the Dark Ages to consider) WoD, as it's lovingly called by the players, is a lovely lore setting to sandbox inside.

The main setting everyone plays in is the fictional city of Dunhurst. It's somewhere in Maine, and yeah. The city is essentially based on Gotham while the name is definitely Cthulhu inspired. Even the neighboring small town is called Innswood. Dunhurst's conception on the meta side of development is really funny, but I won't bore you here. Check out the Campaign Diary for that kind of BTS lore. Or click on Setting down below to see the Neighborhoods.
